Directions

Directions to find us - drive 5kms north of Te Anau on the road to Milford Sound.  You will see us clearly sign posted at No 472.

Directions from Queenstown - From Queenstown Airport turn left onto State Highway 6.   Continue on this highway for approximately 90kms to the Five Rivers turnoff.   There is a cafe here.   Turn right.   Follow this road for 20kms until you reach Mossburn.   At Mossburn turn right onto State Highway 94 to Te Anau, 58kms on.   Directions to find us - drive 5kms north of Te Anau on the road to Milford Sound.   You will see us clearly sign posted at No 472.   Turn up the driveway on your right.   Continue up the drive keeping to the centre path when the road forks into three.   Note that you do not see the Lodge from the main road.

Rental Car

Hiring a rental car is an excellent option for exploring New Zealand and the Southern Lakes regions. Rental car companies work out of Invercargill, Dunedin and Queenstown airports. Avis, Hertz and Budget are based out of Queenstown airport and during the peak season we highly recommend pre-booking your rental car prior to arriving in New Zealand.

The drive to Fiordland Lodge is under 2 hours from both Queenstown and Invercargill airports and 3 and a half hours drive from Dunedin airport. 

Private Transfers

Please contact us for a transfer to Fiordland Lodge through private vehicle. We arrange this regularly from airports and other New Zealand lodges and are happy to provide you with a quote. Please note our drivers are also all speciaist nature guides, we use modern vehicles and this is an excellent way to arrive at Fiordland Lodge. You will receive expert commentary from your driver enroute on the history of Fiordland and you will be able to ask plenty of questions on all the activities and walks that are on offer in the area. Fiordland Lodge is located in a World Heritage Area at the gateway to both Milford and Doubtful Sound. Due to our location we regularly charter helicopter transfers and scenic flights for our guests. We can arrange helicopters to land on our front lawn to drop off and pick up. The helicopter pad is located just off the lawn area and If you are flying in by private helicopter we ask that you advise the lodge so we can confirm weather conditions.

Transfers from other New Zealand Lodges and from Queenstown airport are popular options and prices for flying depends on the length of the flight and the type of aircraft. We only use reliable professional operators.

How to get here?

From the US

International airlines such as Qantas and Air New Zealand provide daily flights from Los Angeles (LAX) non-stop to Auckland, New Zealand on the North Island. These flights depart LAX in the evening and arrive 14 hours later the following morning in Auckland. Due to crossing the International Date Line, you actually arrive two days later then when you departed, but return to the U.S. earlier then when you leave on your return flight.

Domestic flights to Queenstown, leave hourly during the day and the flight is around three hours from Auckland and 1 hour from Christchurch.

From Queenstown a shuttle can be arranged to transport you to the lodge, or you can rent a car and drive yourself. Having a rental car will enable you to travel into town from the lodge and see the area sights.

Helicopter transfers can be arranged to directly on the lawn of the lodge and enquiries and arrangements should be directed through Fiordland Lodge.

From the UK

International airlines Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines provide daily flights from London/Heathrow non-stop to both Auckland on the North Island and Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand.

There are options of travelling through Los Angeles or flying direct from Heathrow to Singapore (5 hour stop over) and Singapore onwards to Christchurch New Zealand.

Again domestic flights to Queenstown, leave regularly during the day and the flight is around 1 hour from Christchurch.

From Queenstown a shuttle can be arranged to transport you to the lodge, or you can rent a car and drive yourself. Having a rental car will enable you to travel into town from the lodge and see the area sights.
